Procrastination: The thief of dreams

As I lie awake staring at a single blade of the ceiling fan spinning, I begin to plan my day. I alot an hour for this and two hours for that, an hour to get dressed and an hour for travel. Today will be the day that I follow through and complete that which I have started. Today will be the day that I embark on all that I dreamed about last night and all of my life. My plans are meticulous and my ideas are brilliant.

A dust flurry flies off of the fan blade like a child being flung from a merry-go-round. My train of thought is broken. I've got 45 minutes to get ready for work. All plans are "go" tomorrow......... and tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow............................

Wake up Mary! Wake up!
In my quest to fulfill and live out the purpose for which I was born, I conclude that I have a duty to provide a service to women that both exalts and encourages them to do a good work and also equips them in a way that will allow them to move forward in a manner that is "First a Lady". In an era when everyone has knighted him or herself an authority on something, I hesitated to embark on ground that others have already trodden and may even occupy. However,I was quickly reminded that I am connected to a source that never ceases to supply an infinite number of lives that I may be able to touch and uplift. So in the spirit of sisterhood, it would be a travesty not to share my life lessons with those who have not yet learned or refresh, confirm or remind those who have. I especially want to share these lesson with a dear friend who I'll just call Mary.

Miss Mary Mack Mack Mack !

Life Lesson #1
Do the one thing you can do perfectly. JUST BE YOURSELF.
You have everything you need to successfully just be you. It is impossible to move forward in your life, to successfully live out your dreams or even fulfill your God given purpose without embracing yourself. If you spend even a moment trying to be like anyone else, you have already failed. The moment you celebrate the difference between yourself and anyone else you are first in line to lead; you are immediately an innovator, because no one else is you.
I cant speak about being a leader or an innovator among women without acknowledging Oprah. I admire her. She is phenomenal. I've learned from her, had many a "aha moments because of her. But never have I wanted to be her. I have never been "Oprah Winfreyized ", a term my brother throws around loosely to describe any woman whom he thinks is quoting or recanting some lesson from her show. That's not to say, I have not been influenced by her, but no one will mistake my swag for Oprah's.
Its all relative to the Pauli Exclusion Principle that states that no two things can occupy the same space at the same time. In other words,You and I cannot be each other. It is more than OK to BE YOURSELF. The original; not a knock off. No matter what you do it is the one thing you can do perfectly without trying. Embrace you. Love you. Be you. Do you. And when you've mastered that Stand tall, head held high be the Prima Donna that you are, "First a Lady".
